Healthy Lifestyles Curriculum
In the following section you will have an opportunity to explore how what you eat and drink may enhance your performance in life and sports. The knowledge you gain can positively influence your attitude toward yourself and toward life. Working through this curriculum and implementing healthy changes in your life has the potential to give you the confidence that you have what it takes to achieve your goals. You may also discover first-hand how eating breakfast may give you more energy and cause you to feel less tired. You may experience how adequate hydration may allow you to persevere through an intense workout. And you may just find that reducing the junk food you eat may cause your skin to clear up and your concentration to improve.
“Healthy Lifestyles” will guide you through an exploration of how to optimize your performance with food and hydration. You will learn how to jump-start your day and you will plan some healthy breakfasts. Given a few things to think about, you may discover you are inspired to make healthy choices when standing at the snack shack. You will learn about the “other nutrients”, sleep and water, and their importance to optimizing your performance in school and sports. You will look at change and how ready you are to implement one healthy change. You will explore exercise from a new angle and outline a plan to move with your friends.
Ultimately you will have an opportunity to discover the meaning behind the phrase, “you are what you eat” and you just may gain an appreciation for how eating is more involved than just choosing a few things to eat because they “taste good”.
